#67 minutes of Work
The Virtuosity Games 18.2 held at B4C Fit Factory at Edenvale High School was truly something special.
It was decided instead of running the event as a “competition”, rather to honour the spirit of the day and focus on the 67 minutes of work and sacrifice each person competing had committed to. The athletes “judged” themselves and kept score for themselves. Each athlete focussing and remembering what the workout they were about to do symbolised.
WOD ONE: 46664 Rep Scheme-20 Minute AMRAP
The second time Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island was in 1964. He was the 466th prisoner that year. His prison number remained 466/64 until 1982 when he was transferred to Pollsmoor Prison and given the number 220/82.
“46664” music concerts were a series of AIDS benefit concerts, performed by South African and Foreign musicians between 2003 and 2008, in honour of Nelson Mandela.
WOD TWO: 100/67 Rep Scheme–20 Minute AMRAP
This AMRAP celebrated the 100 year legacy of this incredible leader and human being, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, born in the year of 1918, who fought tirelessly for a free and democratic non-racial society.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela.
Nelson Mandela has fought for social justice for 67 years.
WOD THREE: 18.104.22.168 Rep Scheme-27 Minute AMRAP
This final WOD of 27 minutes was the ultimate recognition of our gratitude for the day we were blessed to have this great man born to our beautiful South Africa.
Rolihlahla Mandela was born in Mvezo, in the Eastern Cape on 18 July 1918, and born into the Madiba Clan.
Nelson Mandela was President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
